Americans Hate America (IV)
Later in another short essay, I will go a little more in-depth on American ideals. These ideals existed before they were replaced with Marxist and Darwinian concepts. In this easy I will briefly touch on how Karl Marx and Charles Darwin affected all levels of American society.
Starting in the latter part of the nineteenth century two major influences changed the intellectual foundations of America and Europe. Charles Darwin significantly impacted America with his publication of On the Origin of Species, published in 1859. Similarly, Karl Marx’s writings, like the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital, were equally influential. Later, their ideas were absorbed into the University systems and into almost all disciplines of education. Time-honored core curricula were replaced. New disciplines were created to transform and replace American values. One result is the study of gender in higher education. It became a worldview.
Marx and Darwin complimented each other in one major aspect; both were strictly materialist and deterministic. Joseph Stalin expressed one of the features of Marxist dialectical method, “Nature Connected and Determined.” [1] This is a necessary core belief to study the past and predict the future. As I stated in one of my earlier posts, Marx made a deterministic statement in The Communist Manifesto. He believed that all of history is the history of “class struggle.”
But it does not stop there. Class struggle progresses onward, replacing the old with the new, and so on. For example, slaves were necessary at one point but as class struggle continues, it is replaced with new classes. Classes, yet do not simply fade away but is forcibly replaced with the new – often by revolutions. This highlights one major factor that replaced what America values was founded upon. America was founded on the principal of laws, in that no one is above the law. King, Queen, or dictator does not make laws, but the people’s representatives make the laws. Marxist ideology ultimately is and has changed that worldview and thrust America backward to a time where “Might makes right.”
America still does have representatives making laws, but it is more of a hollowed-out shell of a system. Like the Roman Empire. Roman started off as a Republic but over time it became an Empire, where Emperors reigned. The senate still existed, however, yet in the shadow of its former glory and of Kings and dictators. Thus, the strongest establishes right and wrong. Where the weak were crushed and men became Gods.
To slightly digress a little more, America is quickly moving away from a representative concept. Many are crying for their leaders to break the law. To go after those whom they disagree. Let us remember that many in the government broke the law. They aimed to bring down President Donald Trump, all in the name of saving democracy. Even today we are witnessing politicians telling troops to disobey the commander and chief. For example, one of those Senators, who should know better, Mark Kelly delivered an open message to troops, “You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders.” What is striking about troops undermining the commander and chief is noteworthy. They do not have to obey illegal orders from the president. They do not have to obey illegal orders from anyone else in the chain of command. If anyone in the armed forces has any doubt or questions about their missions, they can consult with their officer above them. They can also go to a Jag officer if they are confused about any orders. These are standing procedures. On the other hand, these Senators did not exercise freedom of speech, as they claimed. Instead, they made a clear statement to troops to violate their oaths. If a soldier or officer follows the advice of Mark Kelly, chaos will reign.
Darwin’s theory of evolution equally crushed Europe’s and America’s foundations and worldview. Over millions of years, according to Darwin, humanity and all life forms have evolved from lower life forms. One key factor in all of this is through struggle. “How is it that varieties . . . become ultimately converted into good and distinct species. . .. follow inevitably from the struggle for life?” [2] And the struggle continues, both for Marx and Darwin. For Marx, the struggle will possibly end when all races, people, and countries are equal. Where everyone lives in a collective hive, of sorts. Where there is no rich or poor, no property owners, and peace will reign.
For Darwin, no one can determine where the struggle ends. Evolution is constant. Since the beginning of the twentieth century popular culture and even some academics have imagined new forms of humanity. Starting with the eugenics movement in the late nineteenth century, scientists felt natural selection was too slow. It needed help to weed out the weak and the sick and the feebleminded, whether they be white or black. States began to pass eugenic laws – following Europe’s lead – to force sterilize inmates who were deemed feebleminded. Even repeat criminals were forced sterilized. Margaret Sanger was an outspoken proponent for aborting black babies. Eugenicists believed blacks were part of the lower races that needed exterminated.
The popular culture began to imagine humans with superpowers. Friedrich Nietzsche, a German philosopher, wrote a book called, Thus Spake Zarathustra. In it, he introduced a new man: Ubermensch. A new type of man puts off the old Judeo-Christian morality and substitutes it with Will to Power. He also defines this new man in his other book, Above Good and Evil. Nietzsche believed Judeo-Christian morality held back humanity from becoming new forms of men. He helped pave the way for twentieth-century secularism.
Men’s will make his own future and morality. The term, Übermensch, means overman or beyond-man in German but was translated into superman. As the twentieth century unfolded popular culture enhanced this concept. Movies, television series and magazines popularized a new form of human being. Other super humans emerged. It became popular currency to the extent everyone knows of the idea of superman or some superhuman being. They slowly even became heroes of humanity. Man as savior was exemplified in the popular movies the Matrix. Christ is no longer the savior, but mankind is — under a Marxist and Darwinian worldview.
At the same token, America’s Judeo- Christian heritage slowly was being erased and replaced. In 1927, the Supreme Court allowed states to force sterilize inmates. Thousand were sterilized and rendered impotent, against their wills. The Supreme Court also band bible reading in schools. Even the Ten Commandments was outlawed. Under the false interpretation of the first amendment, separation of church and state, the court was fearful. They worried that a student or students would read the commandments. The concern was that the students would be influenced by it. Thus, creating a religion. I will discuss this later in another post.
In summary, Marx and Darwin changed Europe and America from a Judeo-Christian worldview to a purely materialistic worldview. This change transformed education. It eventually made its way down to K-12. They also replaced the foundation of morality. Whereas, God was the source of morality, to a Godless form of right and wrong called relativism. Today, the American people are confused at its core. The battles are largely fought on these grounds, who’s morality and is its source. Who or what determines what is right and wrong? Most conflicts we witness on the streets and court rooms and our educational system is mostly on the morality issue. Is abortion wrong, or right? Is homosexual wrong, or right? Is transgenderism wrong, or right? America is struggling today on what is right and wrong. Confusion reigns. Hence, the struggle is real for both Marx and Darwin. This is the result of Marx and Darwin.
Human being are more than just material. For Marx, we are entirely material. Thus, nature and historical forces change us. Most of us are pliable and can be shaped and controlled by revolutions.
As for Darwin, human beings are nothing more than material as well. No God, no higher morality can exist other than what mankind chooses to determine what is right and wrong. Both Marx and Darwin left in their wake a scorched history, deprived of any real substance. America’s schools, courts, popular movies, and music, reflect this new age of man.
